What is "micropigmentation"?

Micropigmentation is defined by the American Academy of Micropigmentation as a procedure in which minute, metabolically inert pigment granules are placed mechanically or manually below the epidermis for the purpose of cosmetic and/or corrective enhancement. Essentially, it is just another term for permanent makeup, permanent cosmetics, or cosmetic tattooing.
